Name : Dr Anna Mary Nyakabau

Title : Consultant Clinical Oncologist

Organisation : Ministry of Health and Child Welfare, Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, Zimbabwe

Motivation : She is passionately involved in cancer advocacy work locally and abroad through public lectures and media presentations. She is a board member of various cancer related organisations in Zimbabwe and internationally. Among these are 4 a woman, sub-Saharan Africa Cervical Cancer Working Group.
She has also practiced as an oncologist in the neighbouring Botswana and Malawi. Since November 2009, she is the African Organisation for Research and Training in Africa (AORTIC) Southern Africa Vice President. This organization is involved in championing cancer control and research in Africa.

She has also graduated with a Diploma in Palliative Care at the University of Cape Town, South Africa in December 2006. As a result of this she works closely with local hospice organisations. To further enrich her cancer control expertise she studied for an MPH at the University of Zimbabwe and passed with a Merit in November 2011.
Her career objectives are to improve cancer control activities in Zimbabwe emphasizing public health approach and encourage collaboration in cancer control in Southern Africa and the rest of Africa.
